Jambin State School was opened on 11 February, 1929 by Kate Collins, the first Principal. Sixteen children attended this first day. The school began as a high-set two room building with a half enclosed veranda for keeping bags out of the weather. The area underneath was used as a classroom as numbers grew.
An extension was made to the building which made three rooms and a 'duplicating' room and 'office/staff' room. The area under the building was concreted eventually and the wall enclosed on the residence end. The third (middle) set of stairs were built in 1980.
The Early Education Centre (EEC) was built in 1993, and in 1997 the Greycliffe school building was relocated to Jambin and the new toilet block was completed.
In 2001 the shade sail between the two buildings was erected.
Air conditioning was installed in 2002, due to fundraising, a gaming grant and the State Government "Cooler Schools" program.
2003 saw the expansion of the 'tuckshop' area and the establishment of the 'Echidna Eatery', which was followed in 2004 with shade sail area towards the oval.
